Minmetals bids for Oz Minerals

Another mainland firm has made a move into the Australian mining industry. The state-owned Minmetals has launched a A$2.6 billion bid for the embattled Oz Minerals which was formed only a year ago when Oxiana and Zinifex merged. Minmetals is offering about 82 cents a share for all shares in Oz Minerals which has been struggling to pay off hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.
